Users asked for the ability to import books and they listened. Completely customizable text color and backgrounds make it soft on the eyes. I used stanza until this last release. Great job!!

Si practicas con él a diario con un método apropiado, es decir sin querer conseguir milagros y sin proponerte grandes metas tempranas, en unas semanas notaras que tu velocidad de lectura ha aumentado con la sorpresa de que has captado también gran parte del contenido de lo leído. Pero con esto pasa como con todo: hay que tener constancia y quizá eso sea lo mas difícil. Lo complemento con la aplicación “leer mas rápido”, que tiene ejercicios más específicos y estructurados, pero cuando he terminado la lección diaria de ese programa, continuo la practica con éste alrededor de 10 minutos, para no saturarme. Y lo puedo asegurar, si eres constante, notas la mejora.

Using Calibre, I’ve been able to get any book I can think of on this app. I’ve also been using the paste function to read assignment texts off of websites. This app is amazingly useful.

I love this app. I can import all my PDF books and read them in my phone anywhere I’m at. Ready on the exercise bike at the gym is one of my favorites. Put the speed reading in and get alot of reading don while you work out. This app is a perfect companion to Calibre for the pc.

Quick Reader does a good job at helping you train to improve reading habits. It’s highly customizable as far as speed, colors and layout, which works well. I wish there was a way to program lessons and receive reminders. After all, speed reading is like any other skill, it only works if is constantly being used. Building lessons and programming reading tasks would help those of us who have a difficult time adhering to self imposed schedule.

I loved this reader before the update, with it’s great speed reading mechanism which allows you to easily set a rate you are comfortable with. Or you can switch to normal reading with a couple of taps. Now, with the update, they’ve made it dead easy to import your own non-DRM books in! The only thing I would ask is for some way to be able to set the start point on a page for the speed reading highlight. If you flip the page accidentally or look at the chapter list, it starts from the top of the page each time.

Will be five stars for me once there is an option to hide the iPhone status bar. That drives me nuts since it’s always in a white font and therefore distracting when reading at night. The upgrade to 3.4 went smoothly, kept my place in books I was reading plus I really like the new capability to sort books by date last imported. Of course you can’t please everyone… I was happy just being able to import a book at a time from Calibre.

I can warmly recommend this app for reading books. Much better then ibooks because it actually teaches you to enhance your reading speed a LOT, extremely customizable in colors, fonts, etc., and includes a lot of small comfortable features like adjusting brightness with an up or down swap of your finger. I use it every single day. Kudos guys, keep up the excellent work! Perhaps you could include a better page-turning graphical effect to enhance the look and feel, and display page numbers to help the reader keep track of their progress. Five stars nevertheless!!,

Great little app – especially like the feature that lets you preset the speed and number of stops per line their highlighting tool will use and then pull up thousands of classics and public domain books up to use this with. Not only do you have easy access to all these great books, but you also have tool that increases your reading speed as you read them.

This app is a great tool for increasing reading speed, but do not trust those who claim you will be able to import eBooks with this program. There is no such function available, as I do not count manually copying and pasting each page of an eText as any sort of efficient method of importing. For the price, however, this program offers a very nice selection of texts, making it a worthwhile purchase.

My operation was as follows: eReader上に購入済みの本が読みたいのですがうまく行きませんでした、操作は以下の様に行いました… main screen > normal reading > import > download more than one book > tap “edit” button > add other catalogs(tap green “+” button) > input catalog’s URL, title, subtitle > tap “add” button > popped up “error occurred during catalog addition, like incorrect URL.” *I tried Stanza’s URL in Apple Store since I couldn’t find out eReader Pro’s URL as it vanished in the store. It doesn’t seem to have specifics for it in QuickReader. メイン→普通の読書→インポート→複数の本をダウンロード→編集→他のカタログ追(グリーン+ボタンタップ)→カタログURL、タイトル、副題→追加ボタンタップ→「カタログに追加中エラー発生 URLが正しくないようです」となりました。※ eReaderアプリがApple Storeから消えていたので、Apple Store上のStanzaのアプリのURLを入力して追加を試してみました。QuickReader自体にはガイドがないようです。

I love the ability to read books at a faster pace. Unlike some other speed reading courses, this App does not take you through exercises, rather it allows users to set their own pace for reading & guides them along. I also love the wide variety of classic books available. Also, the App layout is very nice. This is a great app! The best way to learn to speed read is to just *do it* and this app does just that!

I purchased this app months ago and thought it was pretty good. However the free book content was not particularly interesting to me so I stopped using it. However I recently discovered Calibre an app that allows conversion of ebooks into different formats. This means I am now able to download my books from my computer into QuickReader using Calibre’s content server facility. I don’t know if this is a new feature or just one I had missed, but it makes this app invaluable now. I have already almost doubled my reading speed in the last two days and because I am reading books I like the interest value is unlikely to wane as in the case of similar apps. Brilliant. The only request for improvement I could make would be a way to auto ramp up your speed to a pre-set level as reading at the speed you left off at immediately having put the book down for a while can be a little difficult at first. A gradual increase to a pre-set speed would negate that. I don’t review very often but thought I would offer some praise for this app as it is so darned good. Kel.

I really like this app. With Calibre support, Instapaper support, the speed reader mode, and good formatting options this is the best ereader app yet. Suggestions for improvements: – Add a RSVP reader mode. With the font size set to maximum it is close to RSVP but not quite. – The option sliders are too sensitive. – Ability to store option presets.

Terrific layout and font choices Much better screen display than almost all other ebook apps, including Kindle. But for books from the Baen Free Library and Smashwords, at least, italics are stripped out and presented as roman type. Fix this, and I’d give it five stars.

O app Quick Reader esta sendo muito útil para melhorar meu desempenho de leitura. Só acho que deveria ter um espaço para dicas de técnicas de leitura, como “como eliminar a vocalização durante a leitura veloz” (aquela voz que aparece na cabeça durante a leitura) e outras técnicas que podem ajudar a melhorar a leitura. Fora isso, como eu já fiz um curso de leitura antes de usar o app, já consegui recuperar as 2000 palavras por minuto e estou avançando. Excelente app.

Dit programma heeft heel veel nauwkeurige configuratie( instellingen) mogelijkheden. Jag gillar verkligen inte eböcker normalt sett, men QuickReader gör att jag numera föredrar dem från andra böcker. Att kunna pressa sin läshastighet är härligt, och sen vid andra tillfällen vill jag lägga hastigheten på en bekväm nivå och bara slippa vända blad… Genialiskt! Om du fortfarande debatterar om du ska eller inte ska köpa den så testa “Lite” versionen. Det finns knappt något att läsa där, men du får en känsla för vad den kan göra. Interfacet är helt suveränt. Testa!

Excellent job with the latest updates! In terms of a replacement for Stanza this app now nails everything for me with the one exception of being able to hide the iPhone status bar. Ik had de lite versie en die beviel me goed. Heb daarom betaalde versie gekocht, maar die werkt niet. Komt het door de recente update naar iOS5? De app loopt vast in het beginscherm en blijft daar staan. Ik wil mijn geld terug!!! Update van mijn recensie: verwijderd en opnieuw geïnstalleerd en nu werkt het prima. Dit na een mailtje naar quickreader support. Kreeg snel antwoord van Patrick. Goede service!

Good Epub Reader

This is a nice little app, and like it’s sibling MegaReader, a decent replacement for the sadly iOS-5-defunct Stanza. However, Calibre is clunky for uploading my existing epub library (nearly 150 books), so an option to load files into MegaReader/QuickReader via iTunes would be great. Other nice Stanza features I miss: the ability to sort books by custom categories, and paragraph indentation. Thanks for being open to adding new features to MegaReader and QuickReader for all of us orphaned by the loss of Stanza.

This is an app that can change ur life. It will save you so much time and at the same time making reading such a pleasure that you will not want to put a book down until its done! It takes some time to get use to it, but if you are patient with yourself it really becomes fascinating how easy can become such a light and delightful task. One does need to keep coming back to this app to keep speed reading up to speed. I would like to ask that it would be made possible to read any PDF e-books or journal articles. Since not all books are available from the forums of book downloads in quick reader, unless I missed something. Please make this function possible? I really love this app reading with it is just really a pleasure!

So far, I have been using the pasteboard feature. It’s very easy to get material into it and then save it for later. The integration with Instapaper is nice. I’m definitely reading faster in the app itself, and hope that with enough practice it will carry over to other reading – both electronically and with paper. I remember Evelyn Wood devices from a long time ago and have always wanted to try speed reading again. I’m very happy to have this app.

This is fantastic ap tp use to boost your reading speed. The iPad version is easier to use than the iPhone ap, the screen is much more like a “normal” page size, and its much easier on the eyes. I’ve recently started a new job as an editor of a scientific journal, and re-learning how to read at speeds of >1000 wpm as I used to in my long lost youth would be a great advantage. I’ve been using this ap in conjunction with Tony Buzan’s speed reading book, and the easily adjustable speed reader mode, which allows you to push to speeds of well over 2000 wpm is great for that. The moveable cursor has a number of different customizable features, it took a while to find the style that suited me best. You can also read in “normal” book mode, which makes it like any other book reader. As such, it compares well with the iBook reader, and page turns are very quick. I prefer both to the Kindle iPad ap. A speed test mode is very useful for measuring your progress, and saves a lot of time when doing the Buzan exercises. If you used a normal book or another e reader, you’d spend hours counting words and calculating speeds- I don’t have time for all that. You can import free domain books from a number of internet sites. The ability to import your own ebooks including PDFs would make it almost perfect. Thoroughly recommended.

I have never written a review before but this app is so good I had to add my comments. I have always been a slow reader and need to read for work. I have taken several different speed reading courses and never gained significant speed. After only a few sessions my speed has increased about 40% and I am sure I will do considerably better. I am very excited about this program. It is well worth the minimal cost.

Pros: I’ve used this app for about a week and feel it is making a difference each day. I have loved it and recommend it to anyone who likes to read and wants to improve their reading. Con: I only gave it 4 stars because it changes pages too easily. Any accidental brush almost anywhere on the screen will move you a page ahead or back, losing your place on the page you were on. Sometimes even trying to pause the reading causes this when you try to tap the screen but are a little off and tap the oversized page turning section of the screen. May I suggest having one specific place on each side of the screen to turn the page, not the whole side or page?

Love the speed reading practice this app allows for me. Great flexibility with settings. The thing that will push this already great app over the top is the ability to pay to download books that I’d rather read than the classics. Imagine the revenues you and publishers can get if readers read more and faster because they’re interested. Perhaps offer another version (on top of the Lite and Standard versions) with this capability at a higher price. I bet people will be willing to pay a premium.

I have always wanted to take a speed reading course, and now I have one right on my Ipad. This app has helped me increase my reading speed by almost 50 words per minute in only a few short sessions. The app is very easy to use, and the setting are self-explanatory and very easy to use. Definitely worth the money! I would really love it if the next updates could include a highlighting/notes feature. It would also be wonderful to be able to read books that I have purchased through my Nook and Kindle and Ibook apps, too. Don’t know if that’s possible, but it would be nice.

This is a useful, well-done app. Downloading books from feedbooks.com is quick and easy, and the viewing options let you customize the fonts, look of the page, etc. The developer supports it very actively. I generally read several books at a time, so one feature I’d like to see is a list of books currently being read. Support for “push-up” drills, a la Evelyn Wood, would also be very nice.

Love. I have some mild, funky eye muscle dysfunction that makes reading conventional text formats really taxing. My eyes jump around the text, dont focus easily. To try to build strength and good habits, I’ve been using quick reader every day to read an article or two that I’ve saved to instapaper. It is SO much easier for me to focus my eyes and track text using Quickreader, I wish I could use it on every web page and ebook. The instapaper integration especially is excellent. The only reason I can’t give the app five stars is that I get frustrated I can’t use it MORE. I wish I could use it on PDFs, and especially on Apple or Kindle ebooks. Wonderful!

If you’re looking for an app that trains your speed-reading AND integrates all the great free literature out there, this is it. Scifi, fantasy, romance, mystery, it’s all there. You might not even need to buy novels for a while. But what this can’t do yet (because I know the author is very responsive to feedback) is read PDF files of your own choosing. This is due to the text-unfriendly format of PDFs anyway. For PDFs, I suggest using online converters, saving it as a DOC and pasteboarding REASONABLE chunks of text (like 0.5 – 1 chapter or so). You might not like this, but there is no other app I know off that can do this. Oh, and the speed-reading technique here is legit. I know because I attended a $200 speedreading course before buying this app. The app is highly worth it’s value.

Whether you’re looking to increase your reading speed, or just to read existing information more quickly and easily this application is totally insane. The ability to import pdf’s (in conjunction with Caliber- a free app) means that anything that can be downloaded or converted to pdf format can be imported and speed-read using QuickReader. Not to mention all of the free e-book formated books, articles, summaries, journals, etc. that are in cyberspace. A great tool for the person wanting to absorb more information, more quickly and easily. (No need to import using pasteboard unless you want to). If you read, you should have this application. It’s one of the last things that I would give up on my iPhone.

Es una aplicación excelente para incremetar la velocidad de lectura, y comprendiendo lo mejor posible, se necesita de mucha práctica, pero los resultados son asombrosos, además si descargas libros desde paginas de internet, en Safari te permite escoger desde qué aplicación lo quieres abrir si desde iBooks o en QuickReader, y así mejoras tu velocidad de lectura usando el libro que realmente quieres. Excelente aplicación, lo único que podrían mejorar es en poder incluir la biblioteca ya existente en el ipad, es decir los que ya están en iBooks.

The best use of money is the purchase of more time. One should be willing to buy this app for the great works of literature alone, yet none of us has the time to read them – until now! This App works as advertised with no bugs. I found it uncomfortable at first, but after making the effort to not subvocalize and allow the eyes to become trained in the movement it becomes progressively easier. It helps if you choose a book you have already read and make an effort not to despair at momentary loss of context. The app allows for change in speed, grouping, colors, and fonts. All of which make it much easier on the eyes. To think I hesitated in buying Apple and ever contemplated Kindle!

This app makes reading so easy and convenient. It tells me how long it will take to finish reading so I can always know when I will finish. This is great for travel when I have a few extra minutes. The visual highlighted helps me read at a very fast pace and I can adjust it to suit my need for any piece of material. I love the integration with instapaper. I love it! It has made me read 3 times faster, and I had a problem reading. I used to read about 100 words per minute, now I read over 300! The average in my country is 200.. Great app! The only thing I’d wish for is an easy way to practice and push myself (like an onscreen dial to adjust my reading speed), but otherwise, it is just so much fun. This really is the best e-reader available on iTunes. The speed reading features are surprisingly well executed. There is some controversy about whether speed reading practices actually lead to a permanent increase in reading speed; but even if the speed increases are temporary the automatic page turning feature is worth the price of admission alone. If the developers added a built-in dictionary, and some way to highlight text, and add notes this app would be perfect.

I finally gave up on Bookshelf after recent updates trashed it. This app works flawlessly with every book I’ve tried so far, and the Feedbooks downloads were fast and easy. The flaw I encountered was total inability to log onto Baen books and download stuff I’ve paid for. Aside from that one problem, the app is slick, and very well executed, and the speed reading concept works surprisingly well. Highly recommended!

This is my favorite non-game app. It offers over a Million free books that are great for casual or speed reading. The speed reading guide (which can be turned off) is great for eye exercises to improve range of vision. The only bad thing is the library is limited to free public domain titles, free Self-Published independent titles, and titles from the Baen Free Library. People looking for current best sellers won’t find them here.

I found the concept of the app amazingly simple and useful. I enjoy the range of available books so much that I have not had time to explore outside this. Annoying glitch is a repeated use of speed dreading on the same book; the next session will start at the right place, but the title box is incorrectly labelled. Only just got this. Had it for a day or two and really like. I’ve tried a book form of speed reading which was good on the theory – as is this. What I like about this is firstly the speed test (once you figure out how to stop it – swipe L-R). Also the ability to set your reading speed and number of fixations is excellent. It allows you to challenge yourself and forces you to allow your brain to relax and do what it’s fully capable of.

Everything you could want in a speed reading app and a LOT more besides. I’ve read several books using it now and find it a pleasure to use. The user interface is clean and intuitive, and the ability to tweak everything to suit your own needs is terrific. I just wish I could get all of my reading material into it as I would use it for everything if I could. If that were possible I reckon I would be over 600 wpm in no time flat.

Great for improving your reading speed, but I also use it a lot for just casual reading. The screen rotation lock and ability to paste in your own stuff to read make it quite useful. My laptop has Calibre installed and using wifi I can move files to Quickreader. Works well once I figured it out which didn’t take too long. My reading speed is definitely improving.

This app is outstanding! If you want to read at the same speed as you think – this app will make it possible. Reading can be equated to a log jam in a winding river somewhere in British Columbia. Everything slows down to an eventual stop. Increasing your speed through this app will completely change your comprehension levels, devouring books at incredible speeds and also being aware of everything you have read – gestalt – knowing the whole. So exciting! Thinking faster is a nice side effect. A word to the makers. Ich habe immer wieder nach einer guten Schnelllese-Software für den PC gesucht und nur mit Mühe etwas Praktisches gefunden. QuickReader jedoch hat sofort meine Bedürnisse erfüllt. Das Gute ist, dass man eine grosse Auswahl an Texten hat ohne suchen zu müssen. Zudem hat es viele Einstellungsoptionen. Die beste Option ist für mich, dass die Stopps pro Zeile einstellbar sind, denn genau um diese Stopps und die Blickfeldweite geht es ja. Was man nicht erwarten kann sind spezielle Übungen fürs Lesen, bspw. Augenübungen. Das wäre meiner Ansicht nach sowieso überflüssig.

Instead of having to read two handed, with one hand underlining text to guide your eyes, you can kick back and let this app guide your eyes AND turn the pages for you. Wow, to have multitasking on iOS is undisputedly convenient! I love to copy n paste news articles from NY Times into this app using the paste board feature. Whilst the app has a selection library of books, importing your own reading material makes it infinitely more useful. I finally gave up on Bookshelf after recent updates trashed it. This app works flawlessly with every book I’ve tried so far, and the Feedbooks downloads were fast and easy. The flaw I encountered was total inability to log onto Baen books and download stuff I’ve paid for. All in all very well executed, and the speed reading concept works surprisingly well.

This app is very helpful for me to build upon my speed reading class. Puts the web content in a speed reading friendly environment until I get to a stage where I do not need the speed reading aids. Developer is also very responsive. App had an issue with my version of OS and he pushed a patch out within a day and was willing to provide me with a push to my device while it goes through Apple’s approval process.

I’m amending the review as I finally got the app to recognize Calibre after rebooting iPad twice. Still a bit pri ey compared to the other free readers. I can’t get my epub books into this app from Calibre or any other way. I’m not certain what the problem is as I can send books to Stanza and iBooks. Also, both of those apps have other means of loading books via the file upload in iTunes. This app does not. The speed reading is kind of cool, but until I can get books I’m actually reading on the iPad in this app, I’ll give it a mediocre rating. The cost(compared to free) is enough to be upsetting.

QuickReader is very nicely done — having the moving highlight pushing me along in the text is very effective. Sometimes it feels like I want to move ahead of it, and other times I feel I’m being pulled along faster than I would have read otherwise. IOW it’s showing me just how turbulent my reading speed tends to be. It’ll be nice to have an opportunity to even things out. I totally love how it automatically interfaces with the ebook library in Calibre, where I have all my ebooks stored anyway. I just opened the “Books in calibre” item and all my books in Calibre (already running on my Mac) were automagically listed right there on the iPhone. Didn’t have to set anything up at all. So now I have lots of interesting things to read. Nifty! There is one problem, though it’s really outside of the design of the app — QuickReader isn’t good with Japanese text. It does display it just fine, but without spaces between the words QR doesn’t know where to divide things so the moving highlight can’t split text into e.g. three chunks-per-line. It just displays each line as one chunk, meaning at the same speed setting it scrolls down the page at triple speed . But it’s not designed for Japanese text, so that’s not worth a star off. Totally worth the 700 yen.

This program is the real deal. You will be amazed how addictive this becomes. I find myself using this several times per day. What is really cool is my reading speed is increasing and I’m reading more than ever. It’s easy to convert most any pdf file using Calibre (full instructions come with it). Here’s a way I use this to maximize my learning. I read an ebook and underline the areas of importance. I export my markings and bring them into this program, then speed read them. It’s a great way to learn fast. This program is amazingly adjustable. You can adjust the margins ( start smaller and slowly increase their width and watch your speed soar), adjust speed – if you can think of it, you can adjust it. If you need or want to learn faster, read faster and do it easily – get this program. And with the coming iPad version (no extra charge) the value is immense.

The speed options are terrific. Would be nice if it had a sectional reader mode like the AceReader Windows app. I would make this 5 stars if they would let me remove their default catalogs from the list. Having such a huge library of options is nice, but since I don’t use them I wish I had the ability to either remove or hide them from the list. The Calibre sharing is great, had to figure out that you need to add /Stanza to the URL. Even better would be if the app could access my custom non-DRM books from iBooks and also sync with the bookmark feature as well so I can switch from iPhone and pick up where I left off on the iPad when I am home. Also nice would be the ability to drag .ePub and .TXT files into the app via iTunes. Thanks for a great app! Here’s to hoping I don’t have to pay for an iPad version also, and their “iPad soon” means it’s going Universal!

Quick reader is a fine app. Its one of the best. Its a example for other app writers to follow. Its well thought out and has lots of features. Still there is a little room for improvement. When in manual reading mode, quick reader needs the option to turn off the page turn effect. This would probably save a little on battery life. Paste boards is useful, still quick reader needs the option to transfer pdfs and text files via Wifi from the home computer.

Book reader that allows reading in normal mode or with a moveable bar to push your reading speed. The speed, font and background colour are customisable, and easy to change. You can also test your speed. Easy to use; very useful for people like me who have to read a lot of material and for whom reading quickly is an essential skill. On the whole, a great little app. An iPad version would be brilliant- the small iPhone screen can get tiring. The reader comes with a number of pre-loaded books, including the weird but fascinating Flatland, there are links to several public domain sites for downloading more. A facility to import your own PDF or text documents (I have to read endlessly long reports and papers at work) would be good, or even to share books with other readers, eg iBook.

Good piece of software. Works as advertised. It’s an excellent book reader as well. Love the white on blank mode, which is joy to read at night. It supports multitasking too. Keep up the good work!!

I recently started taking college courses and discovered that my time away from school effected my reading ability. So I got the book Breakthrough Rapid Reading and used it along with this app. Between the two I went from from an average of 230 wpm to 520 wpm. I can’t really say which helped the most ( book or app ) but between the two I am very happy with my improvements. I recommend this app ( as well as the book ) if you are willing to put in the practice to improve your reading skills/ comprehension.

I think this is a really good app that does what it promises if you follow through on your end. I just wish there were more current books included in the beginning library. The classics are great but harder to read the older English. I know we have access to many more books by downloading, but I’ve had problems getting this to work. That being said, I will keep trying and will choose to enjoy reading some classics I never read before.

This is a awesome app. I love how easy I can load my personal library using calibre. I like the many different color options to display pages for different lighting and the speed reading options. This is worth every penny. Even if speed reading is not your thing you can set at your own pace and not have to worry about turning pages.

You know, I purchased this app believing that it would probably be a waste of money for me (just like numerous other speed reading programs I’ve tried). To my delight and surprise it is working. I started with the app set to 300 wpm and now I’m up to 500 wpm and I’m actually getting something out of what I’m reading. My occupation requires a tremendous amount of research, so anything that helps me speed up that process is of great value to me. QuickReader is enjoyable,the selection of reading material is wonderful, and the results are obvious. What more can you ask? I really am excited to see how fast I’ll be able to read…Please keep up the great work. This is a fantastic app! The ability to edit what you paste to the pasteboard would make this good app even better. Apparently you can re-title and save the pasteboard contents, but you can’t select and delete portions of the content or add new text.

I got this to read through technical papers more quickly, and it really helped. The cut and paste function works well on this end, ie you can paste into the app easily, even if the cut/copy part is quirky in the apps you cut from (which has nothing to do with this app). It’s very flexible-you can change the speed, number of phrases highlighted per line, the font color, and the highlighting color. The page-turning function can be a little over sensitive-it’ll sometimes skip two pages ahead. It also has a lot of free books that come with it, a great feature. Overall, it’s everything I expected, and a good value for the money.

I think this will really help me fiiiiinally get over my “subvocalization” habit (reading comprehension by mentally imagining the sounds of the words in my mind rather than associating the visual image of the words directly with a meaning). Clearly that will take a lot of practice, though, so I’m glad that this app includes a lot of reading material. I’d say it’s worth the price just for the eBooks it includes alone!

I like the program very much and it does seem to help improve my overall reading speed. I also like being able to control the font and number of lines to read in one burst. However, I seem to have trouble trying to stop or pause the program while in speed read mode. Hopefully they will resolve this issue on the next upgrade.

Now it is perfect that it can download books from your Calibre server. Just awesome. Now it’s the best reader on iTunes, and I have tried them all. Hint: if you use Stanza with Calibre, the setup is similar but remember to add “/opds” to the end of the server address or it won’t work. I banged my head on this for an hour or so, once I figured it out (by simply RTFM on the Quickreader site) it works like a dream.

Updated: LOVE IT STILL, just a thought though, would it be possible to add simple eye exercises that are not word related (meaning pictures or icons) which would ‘warm up’ the eyes. Would only make the app that much better, but it’s already a PERFECT TEN. * * * * * * * * * * I have several other speed reading apps and the really expensive laptop program (you’ve seen the info-mercials) and I have to say on both mobility and ease of use this app beats them all. Pasteboard function is the #1 reason this app is far superior to all other similar apps on iTunes and with future updates it will be even better. If it was possible to access the library from Apps like ‘Stanza’ – this app would be out of control, but as it stands now, it’s the best app in it’s class, hands down. Thank you for this technology and keep up the great work.

This is a really, really useful app. Downloading books from feedbooks.com is quick and easy, and the viewing options let you customize the fonts, look of the page, etc. The developer supports it very actively. The only thing I really miss is an easier way to move other epub books to the app (e.g. webDav), but that is a nit, since even with my reading rate going through the roof, I still have hundreds if not thousands of books to read via feedbooks.

Very good app. I had bought a speed reading book and this is a much easier way to learn to read faster. One suggestion though…add in a feature where you can record your results from the speed reading texts; ie speed, how many word read in how much time, what book it was read in and what pages. If that was done it would be a major improvement. Also, suggestions are given in the manual on how to increase one’s speed…it would be nice if the app could make a individual plan for one to increase their speed to a desired goal.

I am a Uni student who spends a good portion of my time reading. I did some private research into improving my learning skills and speed reading was recommend. I trialled the Lite version first and was so impressed I purchased the full version. I have noticed a measurable increase in my speed and comprehension. If you find yourself re-reading sentences or paragraphs when you read, wasting your reading time, then using Quickreader should help you break that habit of regression and push you to keep reading at a good pace. It is very customizable, so you’ll find just the right look and feel. It’s not perfect, but I love copying pages from my browser and saving them for later reading in Quickreader. My speed isn’t really improving yet, but I feel pressed to concentrate and not regress, so I end up reading more content. I’ve been nudging up reading speed by increasing the setting an imperceptible 5wpm. It doesn’t stress me, but gradually pushes me. Give it a shot. I’ve been happy and occasionally impressed with neat features and results.

This little app doesn’t do all the fancy eye exercises of computer based alternatives but it does seem to get me reading at a more consistant pace and gradually raise my speed. I have always had a difficult time reading and staying focused but I have gone back to college at age 43 and want to get my bachelors in both Soanish and psychology. I can copy Spanish text as well as English an improve it. I have increased my reading from about 250 to 400. I know that is slow but I want to go on for a Masters and could never expect to accomlish it without increasing speed and comprehension. The only feature I wish it had was tracking so I could look at my overall progress as time goes on.

I have several other speed reading apps and the really expensive laptop program (you’ve seen the info-mercials) and I have to say on both mobility and ease of use this app beats them all. Pasteboard function is the #1 reason this app is far superior to all other similar apps on iTunes and with future updates it will be even better. If it was possible to access the library from Apps like ‘Stanza’ – this app would be out of control, but as it stands now, it’s the best app in it’s class, hands down. Thank you for this technology and keep up the great work.

Very useful app – have sleazy improved my reading speed after just a few sessions. Texts supplies are just right for learning to use the guided reading feature. The added bonus of being able to import your own choice of text means that you can use the guided reading tool with material you need to read. Excellent app – thanks!

This app is very helpful for improving consistent reading speed. It has a good library of classics to enjoy and a great interface to assist you. My only gripe is there is no way to track my progress. Also, I would like to have some exercises to help increase reading speed.

Are you tired of crappy user interface? Low qulity apps that actually charge you for use? This is one of the few apps that have impressed me in both layout, user interface, and just pure quality. In fact it impressed me enough to write a review. If your looking to consume large amounts of knowledge in a short amount of time ( kind of like in the movie “the Matrix” ), then this is the app for you. With plenty of classic books to choose from and the easy to use interface this app definitly deserves a 5 out 5 stars. My only beef, is I think there needs to be some kind of course to follow. In addition to the introduction and guide already in quick reader.

This little app doesn’t do all the fancy eye exercises of computer based alternatives but it does seem to get me reading at a more consistant pace and gradually raise my speed. I also appreciate reading entire classic novels that I otherwise wouldn’t have made time to read. Great app, well worth the $5 and couple minutes it takes per day to read a chapter.

After a couple of other unsuccessful programs, QuickReader was a better tool for me. In a few weeks of practice I went from below average of 196 wpm to 448 wpm which is a comfortable speed with good retention and comprehension. I may never reach the 3000 wpm, but for a 70 y/o who enjoys reading, I’m thrilled with the great results from QuickReader. I certainly will be reading more books. The price is very reasonable and worth it. I have highly recommended it to family and friends. Thanks for this great application! I’m also enjoying the upgrades…

This is a really good/helpful app. It has a great UI and color scheme. It does, and is, exactly what you would want from this type of app. If I could add one feature, I would add a little graph to track progress on speed tests.

I love the new paste board. The only downfall with the paste board is when your finished with the material you have to go to normal reading mode and manually index the pages back, to get to the beginning. This is not very handy if you would like to read the material more than once. Other than that as previously stated: Perfect! Perfect! Perfection! I’ve doubled my reading speed in about a week and a half. More importantly, I’ve found a focus that I hadn’t realized I was lacking. I was a little disappointed when two days after I bought the app, it dropped half price for an introductory price. However, it’s worth much more than the full price anyways. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced a high from this. I get this speed buzz, like an energy drink high without the drop. My focus is astounding. It’s like my mind is clicking, to a metronome or something to that effect. I feel happier after practicing. My trouble shooting skills click as well. Well, in any effect, hopfully it’s addicting. Is there any chance of adding new books in the future? Also, is there a chance that the WPM will increase from 2000 in the future?

I like the new version, it has copy and paste support to import content, an increased guide speed to 3000 WPM, a way to turn the guide off so it just turns the pages and a demo video – pretty cool stuff. I use this all the time and it’s well worth the money. It’s got two uses I value. As an ebook reader it allows lots of customisations but also an elegant interface and a touch-free reading mode (the guided reading). As a speed reading App, it promotes natural eye tracking without silly eye excercises or worse, staring at the screen while words are flashed at you (which some Apps do). I also like that you can import and save your own content. This has got to be one of the best readers out there. Highly reccomended.

I just got the upgrade which adds polish and features like copy/past to an already nice app. I have been using the previous version to improve my reading speed when on the go. What I was surprised by was that my wife liked the new version. She had checked out the previous version but it didn’t click. The fact that she is getting an iPhone this month and the intro video changed her mind and this app is going to be one of the first I purchase for her.

This is certainly the best speed Reading app with all the configurations you could wish for. Really need to be able to import your own books and text for when you have finished Reading the built in books (which won’t be long given the speed you will be Reading)! ———- Update: unbelievable! They implemented my change request in less than a week. The best just got better. Now this app really has no competition. May I request another improvement? It would be nice to be able to change the speed whilst Reading without having to go into settings (unless I have missed how to do this) Thanks for adding the text import so quickly!

This app is by far the best investment I have made besides buying the newest Ipod touch. I used it one time, ONE TIME and already my reading speed sky rocketed. I was studying for a psych test and it allowed me to use the new techniques I learned in using the app for such a short time to double the amount I was able to read. At the University of Rochester, reading fast is a big skill and this gives me a competitive advantage if I do say so myself. Maybe you can make it were I can upload or by my texbooks right on the app. Great job guys

This app does an excellent job of training the eye to absorb more words at a greater pace. The selection of books is well chosen, the program is simple to use (with a clean UI) and performs it’s functions perfectly. A few features that I’d like to see in an update: ability to upload your own books (even if it is restricted to only txt format) and the option of comprehension tests at the end of the chapter. This latter feature is especially desirable because it would help the reader ensure he is understanding what he reads rather than passively skimming the words. Absent these features this app is still an excellent speed reading program which I highly recomend.

I have looked for years for a program like this. Portable and effective. I find myself using this 4 or more times a day and I see improvement in my reading. The only drawback is not being able to drop in text of my own or other books. A situation they say they are working on. All in all the best, most well thought out app I own. This app has a beautiful interface and is a delight to use. It has improved my reading speed and continues to go so. I’ve known for a while that I’m a not a very fast reader. I say it to my friends all the time. I wanted to do something about it but didn’t want to invest a lot of time into it. Now with QuickReader I can spend short amounts if idle/commute times and it benefits my speed without having to set aside a chunk of time.

Quickreader is a great new learning tool to have on my iPhone. I have read about speed reading and tried some exercises in the past but this is so much better to help you get started with the basic technique. I am just getting started but I am already noticing a difference. It comes with a great selection of classic books to read which are worth the price alone. If you want to read faster, I highly recommend it.

This app is so much easier than taking a classroom based speed reading course! I can work at my own pace and use it when it fits my schedule. I read a lot of of computer industry blogs and it would great if there were a way to import outside content. The reading material included with the app is great, but it is mostly literature. This app is going to save me a lot of time as my reading improves.

I don’t usually bother with reviews, but this software is out-standing! I’ve always head trouble with reading too slowly, and speedreading systems I’ve tried before had a lot of shortcomings. This program is enjoyable, challenging, and effective. The included books also make you feel like your not just practicing a technique, you can actually read something enjoyable! One feature i would love to see – make it possible to import your own ebooks – that would make this the most useful ebooks reader ever made! Even without that feature this program is worth much more than the cost.

QuickReader is a well-designed application that works! It trains readers to read more quickly and with greater comprehension. The UI is clean, and use is intuitive. A variety of interesting books are provided for the reading speed tests and practice readings. After a week with the application I tested at over 600 words/minute. I’m glad to have QuickReader on my iPhone, it’s the one application I use during down time (typically waiting on lines) that actually provides a tangible benefit. It is well worth the price, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve tried several speed reading books. While I grasped the general concept, what I lacked was a program like Quickreader to pace myself and build speed gradually. Right from the start, I’m reading everything in several-word gulps, without pausing to say the words to myself. The result: much better comprehension, and much more enjoyable reading. I’ve taken several speed reading courses and this program does more than all of them combined for about $300 less. There is another iphone reader (beamitdown) that is touchless and a natural extension once you’ve ‘graduated’ and are looking for more material, I’d love to see the developers come together on a joint project. Meantime, get this!

I read a ton off the web, so anything to get an edge on information consumption is good for me. This application has the customization options needed to work on training up my ability to read and understand text quickly. I’ve also read two books on the Kindle iPhone app and was pleased to see the selection of classic works in there. If I were to add something, it would be to be able to have my most recently read books automatically moved ot the top of the library for quicker reference.

I have dabbled with speed reading for a few years now. Most of the techniques I came across are mentioned here but they could be explained in a bit more detail in the tutorial. With practice, this app could easily double your reading speed in a short time(a few hours a week I would say). I would give it 5 stars if I could copy/paste articles into it. Most of my reading is blogs/online news and it would be great if I could use my own material to practice with.

QuickReader is the only worthwhile speed-reading software currently available on the App Store, other than Read Demon, which I admittedly have not purchased since it does not appear to have a five-word-segment option in its settings, as four- to six-word segments seems to be the most comfortable and comprehendible chunk of information for me while reading. QuickReader is the most Mac-like speed-reading software that I’ve ever discovered, other than iVerbum’s iSpeedRead, of which an iPhone version has not yet been (may never be) created. They both put the venerable AceReader Pro to shame and don’t suffer from the typical Java code ugliness or bugginess that is found in other un-Mac-like speed-reading software. I urge Inkstone to port this to the Mac (probably using the same development software used for this version), and I’d be happy to pay four times this introductory price for a Mac version, as the frequent page turning on this iPhone is dizzying, especially at my target 600 wpm. My main complaints about this current version of QuickReader are as follows: • I’d either like access to all of the Gutenberg library or would like to import my own RTF ebooks from my Mac with their nice curly (smart) quotes and em-dashes—or preferably both of these possibilities. • I’d like the Guide Stops settings for landscape and normal mode to be differentiated, so that I could set two stops for normal orientation and three stops for landscape orientation, since I do rotate the iPhone from time to time during a reading session and don’t want to repeatedly change the settings manually.

Tried other speed reading trainers but this is the best. Books included are classics I’ve been meaning to read but what’s better is I can apply what I’m learning to anything else I want to read. I tried the included speed test and clocked in at 583 words. Pretty respectable, I thought. Then I turned on the guides, tweaked them to my preferences, and in no time was reading nearly 25% faster and I am still picking up speed – with good comprehension and retention. The app comes with some great classic literature for you to brush up on. Try it and you’ll wish all your correspondence and reading came with QuickReader guides!

I have been playing with quickreader over the weekend and I have to admit I am very impressed. It’s amazing what you can customize, there isn’t an e-reader app exists today on the app store that let’s you customize as much as this app does, which makes the QuickReader a full featured e-reader in additions to being speedreader. You want bigger font, you can customize that, you want different font type, you can change that also. You want to change the colors, you can either choose from many built-in themes or you can customize one your self. In additions to that, this app can help you read faster over time. Imagine being able to read faster over time. Here is how I do it my self: First, I will take a speed reading test to see where i am at: then I will adjust the guided reading speed to be slightly above that — then I will increase this over time. So this app has all what you need to improve your speed reading ability. It’s definitely worth the $9.99 price.

I downloaded and started using this product today and I must say, I’m impressed. This product is easy to navigate and easy to adjust to my habits. For leisure, I’m an avid reader and for work required to read massive amounts with little time… So, I will be using this product for both, personal and training. As an old school reader, I’m finicky about moving from paper to electronic but the transition is made easier by the elegance and ease of the product. Thanks guys.

This app is amazingly effective! I had not heard about speed reading before, but by simply trying Quick-Reader I could see the benefit right away. As a musician I immediately understood the concept: it’s like a metronome for reading, it keeps me on track and keeps me focused. It’s necessary for me to read many texts for my work. The Quick-Reader app allows me to adjust the formatting of the text to my liking with no distraction to my attention. The meter helps me attain a rhythm in reading I had not experienced before, and I not only achieved a momentum in reading more text but also in better retaining the provided information. Truthfully, I find this app very useful for work-related reading, but I still prefer to ponder recreational books at my own leasure.
